Connect a device
Everything KeyMob does starts from a paired device. Pairing happens over the cable, once per computer.
Over USB
Section titled “Over USB”- Unlock the phone. A locked device will not complete a pairing, and the trust prompt cannot be answered from behind the lock screen.
- Plug it in. Use a data cable — plenty of charging cables have no data lines at all — and prefer a port directly on the machine over a hub.
- Tap Trust. iOS asks Trust This Computer? on the device and then asks for the passcode. Both are required.
- Open KeyMob. The device appears in the list with its name, model and iOS version.
If it does not appear, work through Device not found — on Windows the answer is nearly always the missing Apple device driver.
What “trusted” means
Section titled “What “trusted” means”The pairing is a key exchange between the phone and this computer. It is stored on both sides and survives reboots and unplugging. It does not travel: a second computer pairs separately.
Tapping Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Reset Location & Privacy on the device revokes every pairing at once, which is worth knowing if a device has been passed around a team.
Over Wi-Fi
Section titled “Over Wi-Fi”Once a device has been paired over USB, KeyMob can keep reading it over the local network. This matters when the phone has to move while you watch it — walking a route to test location behaviour, testing on the move, or simply keeping a desk free of cables.
- Pair over USB as above.
- Enable Wi-Fi debugging for that device in KeyMob.
- Put the computer and the phone on the same network, then unplug.
The device list, the modules and the counters are identical either way.
Several devices at once
Section titled “Several devices at once”More than one device can be paired and connected. Each is a separate entry in the list, with its own session and its own counters, and switching between them does not disconnect the others.
